Louisville, baby!

We have an unhealthy kind of love for Louisville.  We've only been there a handful of times and it's always been crazy cold.  Yet, we love that city.  It's probably because our favorite movie was filmed there - it's such a good movie.  So when M. had the chance to attend a conference there -IN THE BROWN HOTEL - we jumped on it.  We went as the whole fam and had a fabulous time.  With some recommendations from friends on where to go, what to eat and some new and old places to go, we really had a nice time.  Here are some pics of our adventures.
We mostly just loved being in this fabulous hotel - amazing!
If you are a loyal fan of this blog then you will recall that 2 years ago we, while in Louisville, we stumbled onto the greatest Mediterranean food outside of the Mediterranean.  It's heavenly and we love it and eat there every chance we get.  They even recognized us when we went back over and over while we were there.  We're loyal customers.

The hotel had a poster for the movie up downstairs.  Our masterful picture-taker E. took this shot.  Didn't he do great?  I don't think M. and I have had our picture taken just the two of us for ages!
We went to this great Art Museum right next to where M. was conferencing.  They have an entire area for kids to explore and make art.  E. had a great time, to say the least.

They have this very cool...well, I have no idea what this is, but it's cool.  E. loved it but being the overly shy child he is he would cry and leave the room when other children came in.  Some day he won't be afraid of other children.  But, to his defense, they were pretty crazy.  I think I was even a little afraid of some of them.
We escaped to the 3 and under zone after that because all the children were older and didn't want to play in here anyway.  E.was delighted.
This was by far the best part though.  E. sat and painted for over an hour.  He LOVED painting!  This is now an almost daily ritual here because he has found his true love--art.  He colors and paints all day long now.  It was so fun for him and I'm glad he's found such an interest in it.
Of course we hit the books as well.  I don't think this child can see a bookshelf and lounge chair and not stop to read.
M. and E. had fun taking pictures of each other through our windows.  You could see from the bathroom into the main room.
It's always so cold when we go to Louisville and this time was no exception but we walked around downtown and the waterfront park.  Random pictures to follow.

How do boys find sticks no matter where they are or what they're doing?  E. can always manage to find a muddy, wet stick and won't leave it because it has become his new best friend.
ETHAN MONSTER!
Louisville tired him out.  We tried to keep him awake on the way home by giving him snacks.  Instead, he just fell asleep with his hand in them.

This is...

These are some of the new trends in our household.

E. looking very "vagabondesque".  He found these swim shorts and has wanted to wear them everyday.  Isn't he just the most stylish little boy ever?  With his crazy curls, crazy character based fashion and orange socks.  Such a little trend setter for sure.

 E. has also been taking lots of pictures lately.  He's a little bit obsessed with art, coloring and picture taking.  It's been fun.  Here are some of his more artistic shots.  Maybe his father's artistic abilities are rubbing off.  I don't know what that middle picture is of, not even a clue, but he had fun.

Also, a trending topic revolves around the news that yes, M. will be studying at Standford University for the next two years!  He received the Stegner Fellowship, a huge dream neither of us expected to come true.  He's a stud, I love him and I'm so proud of him.  It pays to work hard apparently.  Congratulations love, I hope this post was understated enough for you.
This is his building, isn't it beautiful?
